Using this site

Proper Estimate (properestimate.com), run by Hayder Kh, offers free calculators for planning and pricing building work. By using the site you agree to these terms; if you don't agree, please don't use it. You don't need an account, and the calculators cost nothing.

Estimates, not professional advice

Results are estimates for planning and pricing. They follow the 2021 International Residential Code and the assumptions written on each page, but they are not building plans, engineering, or legal advice. Your local code, soil, snow load, lumber grade and design can call for different sizes. Get the permits your area requires and have your plans checked by your building department or a qualified professional before you build. Prices are samples; check them with your suppliers.

Your responsibility

You decide how to use the results. Check your measurements, your local code and the instructions for the products you buy, call 811 before you dig, and follow safe building practice.

No warranty

We work to keep the calculators accurate, but the site and its results are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness and fitness for a particular purpose. We may change, pause or stop any part of the site at any time.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the site or relying on its results, including building costs, extra materials, property damage or injury, or any indirect, incidental or consequential loss. Where the law doesn't allow these limits, our liability is limited to the smallest amount it allows. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.

Content and trademarks

The calculators, text and drawings on this site belong to Proper Estimate. Use the results for your own projects and share links freely, but don't copy the site or large parts of it. Product names such as Trex, TimberTech and Fiberon are trademarks of their owners and are used only to describe products; we aren't connected with them.

Ads and links

The site may show ads and link to other websites. We don't control them, and an ad or a link isn't an endorsement.

Fair use of the site

Don't use the site for anything unlawful, try to break into it or disrupt it, or overload it with automated requests.

Privacy

Our privacy policy explains what data the site handles.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and using the site after a change means you accept it.
